Garth Wood (74.55 kgs) scored an easy 2nd round TKO over Steve Timbii (76.60 kgs). Wood used his jab to set up his right hand. He dropped Timbii in the 1st and 2nd rounds from straight rights. When the bell ended for the 2nd round, Timbii went back to his corner and retired on his stool. With this win Wood’s improved his record to 3-1 with 1 KO whilst Timbii fell to 0-5.
Junior Middleweight 4x3
Pro debutant James Giltrow (68.90 kgs) scored a 2nd round TKO victory over Aaron Ryan (70.35 kgs) however the fight did not go according to the script. In the 1st round Giltrow came out the aggressor and backed Ryan against the ropes and just when it appeared the fight was heading for a quick finish, Ryan landed a counter right hand that dropped Giltrow. Giltrow immediately got up and went back on the attack. He managed to land his own right hand that dropped Ryan.
In the 2nd round, Giltrow continued his swarming attack and was all over Ryan. Another right hand landed flush that sent Ryan to the canvas but this time the referee waved the fight over at 1 minute and 22 seconds of the 2nd round. With this loss Aaron Ryan dropped to 0-5 with all his losses coming by knockout.
NSW State Bantamweight Championship 8x3
Dean Livanos (53.24 kgs) and Kartu Arang (52.76 kgs) fought out an action packed battle for 8 rounds that was given at the end a standing ovation and a shower of money. Both guys stood toe to toe for the full 8 rounds trading blows. It was Livanos’ higher work rate and the body shots that slowed Arang in the 2nd part of the fight that was the telling factor. Livanos finished stronger and was awarded an unanimous decision victory by the scores of 80/72, 77/75, 79/73. With this victory Livanos continued his undefeated record to 2-0 with 1 KO whilst Arang fell to 0-5-3.
NSW State Welterweight Championship 8x3
With the crowd on a high from the Livanos-Arang fight, I was thinking to myself that you are not going to see a better fight than that for a long time. As always I was wrong. Bobby Antonakos (66.10 kgs) and Hiroaki Morita (66.35 kgs) surpassed the previous fight in action and then some. In what can only be described as a war and an early candidate for Fight Of The Year, Antonakos scored a close but unanimous decision over Hiroaki Morita.
This was a rematch from a fight that ended in a draw last December. This time around it was Morita who made a good start hurting Antonakos in the 1st round by a straight right. Moments later an accidental head clash resulted in a cut on the top of Antonakos’ head.
Antonakos was trying to be the aggressor in the early rounds but it was Morita who was managing to occasionally land his straight right hand that would stun Antonakos. Every time Antonakos would get stunned he would immediately fire back with his own combinations. By round 5, Antonakos’ face was a mask of blood but this also proved to be the turning point of the fight as Antonakos was able to continue his high work rate for the remainder of the fight where as Morita faded down the stretch.
As soon as the fight was over, the crowd again rose to their feet and gave both combatants a standing ovation. The judges had it 77/75, 77/75, 79/73 all in favour of Antonakos. This victory improved Antonakos’ record to 9-1-1 whilst Morita fell to 0-2-1.
Welterweight 8x3
Emanuel Augustus (65.95 kgs) showed that he has a lot still left in his tank with an impressive 2nd round KO victory over New Zealander David Wiremu (66.50 kgs). Emanuel started strong showing a cocky style of standing in front of his opponent with his hands low looking to counter anything that Wiremu threw. Wiremu did land a straight right in the 1st round that Augustus took flush and returned a smile back at Wiremu.
In the 2nd round, Augustus seem to get serious about the fight and landed a hard left rip to Wiremu’s body that left the New Zealander slumped on the canvas in a lot of pain. The referee counted 10 and at the 2.56 mark of the 2nd round the fight was over. With this win, Augustus’ record rose to 36-29-6 with 18 knockouts whilst Wiremu dropped to 14-16-2.

Junior Middleweight 4x3
Pro debutant Steve Casserley (69.55 kgs) made an impressive start to his pro career with a 4th round TKO over Filipino Arnel Balicuatro (67.75 kgs). After a quiet 1st round, Casserley came out in the 2nd round as the aggressor, loading up on his right hand. Casserley was able to trap Balicuatro on the ropes for most of the fight and unleash on him. In the 4th round, Balicuatro was hurt from the accumulation of punches and the referee stepped in and halted the fight at 2.03. With this loss Balicuatro fell to 0-7 with this being his first stoppage defeat.
Welterweight 6x3
Former Australian Welterweight Champion Solomon Egberime (66.60 kgs) showed no ill affects from being out of the ring for 20 months when he won an unanimous decision over the undefeated Samuel Colomban (65.95 kgs). Egberime used his experience to get inside the height and reach advantages of Colomban and land the cleaner combinations. In the end the judges scored it 60/54, 58/56, 59/55 all in favour of Egberime who raised his record to 15-2 with 9 KOs whilst Colomban dropped to 6-1.
Catchweight 8x3
Southpaw King Davidson (68.95 kgs) used his hand speed to score a 4th round technical points win over current Australian Junior Middleweight Champion Frank Lo Porto (70.00 kgs). Davidson kept the fight at long range by using his accurate, fast jabs. He also used his jab to set up his big straight lefts. In the 4th round an accidental head clash opened a cut over Lo Port’s left eye that was inspected by the ring doctor who ruled the fight was unable to continue. The bout was ended and the judges’ scorecards were required. They read 29/28, 30/27, 30/27 all in favour of King Davidson who continued his undefeated streak to 3-0 whilst Lo Porto fell to 6-3-1.
Australian Welterweight Championship 10x3
In a rematch of a fight that had previously ended in the 1st round technical draw due to an accidental head butt, southpaw Matthew Paulley (66.45 kgs) won a 7th round technical points win over Eddic Delic (66.65 kgs). Paulley was in control for most of the fight with his cleaner combinations but as in most of his fights he was cut in the 3rd round by an accidental head clash.
His corner managed to contain the cut and the fight continued. In the 7th round both boxers wrestled each other to the canvas but by rounds’ end another head clash caused a deeper cut to be opened up on Paulley. The doctor examined this and ruled that Paulley was unable to continue. The scorecards were called in and they were 69/64, 69/64, 69/66 all in favour of the new Australian Welterweight Champion Matthew Paulley. With this win, Paulley improved his record to 15-5-4 with 7 KOs whilst Delic dropped to 13-8-2
IBO Middleweight Championship 12x3
Daniel Geale (72.55 kgs) out punched and outclassed Daniel Dawson (72.10 kgs) over 12 rounds to win the IBO Championship. Dawson’s best chance to winning this fight was considered to be in the early rounds but surprisingly it was Geale who started off strongly by establishing his jab and repeatedly following it with his straight right. Geale was throwing combinations whilst Dawson was constantly looking for the one shot that never materialised. Geale also used movement to both his left and right which stopped Dawson from being able to set up his punches. In the 6th round, Geale was cut over the left eye by an accidental head clash but the fight continued. By the 11th round, Dawson realised he was well behind on points and tried to force the action but Geale used his movement and stayed out of harms way. In the 12th round, Geale finished the fight stronger by landing the cleaner combinations. In the end the judges scored it 119/109, 120/110, 120/110 all in favour of Daniel Geale who continued his undefeated record to 18-0 with 12 KOs whilst Dawson suffered his first defeat and fell to 29-1.

Catchweight 4x3
In what can only be described as a war, Tui Leveni (67.30 kgs) won a close decision over pro debutant Josh King (66.70 kgs). It was a fight where the momentum constantly changed and just when you thought one boxer was getting the better of the action, the other would come back and hurt the other. Leveni received a standing 8 count in the 3rd round when he was hurt with body punches. In the 4th round it was King who was issued with a standing 8 count when he copped punishment whilst on the ropes. In the end, the judges scored it 37/36, 37/36, 37/36 to Tui Leveni who improved his record to 2-1.
Super Cruiserweight 10x3

With this win, Ammann’s record rose to 12-1-1 with 2 KOs. Chondros dropped to 13-6.

Arang beat the count and luckily for him the final bell rang. The judges scored it 38/38, 38/38, 38/39 a majority draw.
Featherweight 8x3
Davey Browne (57.10 kgs) used his height and reach advantages to outpoint Filipino Robert Oyan (56.80 kgs). Browne stayed on the outside and used his jab and straight right to pile up the points. Oyan made the contest interesting with his body attacks. Oyan momentarily stunned Browne in the 6th round with a left hook but Browne got back on his bike and continued to mount up the points with his jab. In the end, the judges had it 79/75, 80/72, 79/75 all in favour of Browne. Browne’s record is now 9-0-1 with 3 KOs whilst Oyan fell to 18-31-4.

Pro debutant Dean Livanos (54.92 kgs) made an impressive start to his pro career with a 2nd round TKO victory over Tom Clarke (54.16 kgs). Livanos showed a lot of patience as he picked his punches in the 1st round. He hurt Clarke in the 1st round with left rips to the body to which Clarke was issued with a standing 8 count. In the 2nd round, Livanos continued the pressure when he once again used his swarming style to hurt Clarke when he was on the ropes. This time the referee stopped the fight and saved Clarke from further punishment.
Welterweight 6x2
Jason Cortis (65.15 kgs) and Brian Fogarty (66.35 kgs) battled out a split draw. Cortis started the fight working behind his jab but was continuously caught by wild counters from Fogarty. In the later rounds, Cortis seemed to find his rhythm better and landed some nice left hooks and uppercuts. In the end the judges scored it 56/58, 58/55, 57/57. Cortis is now 3-3-2 whilst Fogarty is 9-7-1.
Junior Welterweight 6x2
2004 Athens Olympian for Turkey, Sedat Tasci (61.35 kgs) had an extremely tough pro debut against Filipino Jun Paderna (66.35 kgs). Sedat started off fast but soon realised that Paderna was going to be stiffer opposition than he imagined. Paderna stunned Tasci by the end of the 1st round with a straight right. In the 2nd round Tasci went down from another straight right hand. Paderna was getting the better of the action. He landed a left hook that was followed by an accidental head clash. Tasci suffered a cut over his right eye. Was the cut caused by the left hook or head clash? This is the question that we will never know the answer to. The Doctor inspected the cut between rounds and ruled that Tasci was unable to continue. The fight was ruled a technical draw to the chorus of boos from the crowd.
Australian Middleweight Championship 10x3
Junior Talipeau (72.25 kgs) successfully retained his Australian Championship with a close but unanimous win over Peter Mitrevski Jnr. (71.95 kgs). The boxers got down to business from the 1st round with Talipeau throwing his straight rights and Mitrevski throwing his left hooks setting the tone for the entire fight. Talipeau was deducted a point in the 1st round for punching when the referee had ruled break. The higher work rate throughout the fight was coming from Talipeau but Mitrevski had great success when he worked his jab and left hooks. In the 8th round, Talipeau started to throw right uppercuts with many of them landing and Mitrevski suffered a cut under his left eye. In the final round, both guys stood toe to toe and gave it all they had. Both boxers left nothing in the tank. The judges scored it 96/95, 97/92, 96/94 all in favour of Junior Talipeau. With this win Talipeau improved his record 9-0 with 2 KOs whilst Mitrevski fell to 17-5-1.
